The Journal Info editorial team builds the notebook on this site to the process set out in our editorial policy. Each article states how its numbers were calculated, so a reader can repeat the arithmetic.

What we cover

  • Baseball: what the standard and advanced statistics measure, and what they leave out.
  • Basketball: how per-game, per-minute and per-possession figures compare.
  • Football: how league tables, points and goal difference are constructed.
  • Method: sample size, random variation, rounding, and how to rebuild a table from raw counts.

How we work

Each article starts from a question a reader can check. Articles are drafted with generative AI. Before an article is scheduled, the site owner reads it and approves its scope and the sources it lists; articles are not edited line by line. Each article shows the label “AI draft, not edited” and lists its sources at the end. A separate review compares articles with their sources, and an article in which that review finds an error is taken off the site until it is corrected. The full rules are in the editorial policy. Tables show the inputs next to the results so the arithmetic is visible.

What we do not do

We do not publish news or match reports, we do not republish text or tables from other publications, we do not cover health, medicine or supplements, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
